The weekend of April 1st was spent camping with friends in the Gold Buttes region called Little Finlandia. This area offers a plethora of extremely delicate sandstone formations as well as nearby petroglyphs left by the Anasazi and other early Americans.
This place is billed as being about 70 miles from Las Vegas but that is "as the crow flies". Driving is about 2-3 hours travel south of Mesquite, Nevada or about 4 hours from Las Vegas, depending on how many photo stops you make before even getting to this interesting area.
More scenery includes the local springs, 100 year old palm trees and a few mean looking bulls keeping watch on the area. If parking at the base of the cliffs in the Little Finlandia area, camping is open and provides little shelter from desert elements such as the sun and windstorms. More Pics -
While we drove campers down there, the Grub Hub made the perfect group camp kitchen to enjoy time together.
